About the restaurant
GOAT, short for Greatest of All Taste, is chef Sid Chopra's answer to Auckland's sea of curry-house cliches, built instead around India's lesser-known regional cuisines. Chopra, who left Delhi at 21 and spent 14 years as executive chef at Prego, draws on more than two decades of experience to bring street food traditions from across India into a modern, ingredient-led menu. The namesake dish, Goat Champaran, is a slow-cooked, aromatic tribute to Bihar, while Prawn Balchao from Goa, Khoriko Pork from Nagaland and Tamatar Chaat from Banaras round out a menu that's as educational as it is delicious.
