Huami holds down one of the more elegant corners of SkyCity Auckland, tucked into the entertainment precinct beneath the Sky Tower and worlds away from the pokies and neon outside its doors. The kitchen ranges across regional China, Cantonese, Sichuan and Beijing all represented, with handcrafted dim sum and a wood-roasted Peking duck that draws its own following. Braised abalone and mānuka honey-glazed char siew pork round out a menu built for sharing. Smart-casual by day, the adjoining 1920s Shanghai-style bar turns moodier by night, with private rooms on hand for six to twenty-four.
