About the restaurant
Chef Josh Emett's Onslow trades street level for grandeur, with four-metre ceilings, moody directional lighting and banquette seating doing most of the talking before the food arrives. The kitchen leans hard on New Zealand produce, headlined by a theatrical Salmon Trolley serving Big Glory Bay salmon pastrami tableside. Starters run to Chatham Islands crayfish éclair and chicken liver parfait, mains swing between butter-poached snapper and slow-braised meats like wild venison or beef cheek. Sophisticated without tipping into stuffy, with a garden terrace for when the sun cooperates.
