The north of the South Island is a wine lover’s paradise! It’s time to jump in the car, or book a campervan, and embark on the road trip of a lifetime through some of New Zealand’s most dramatic and sun-soaked landscapes, where you can sample world-famous wines. The Marlborough region is famous for its Sauvignon Blanc, while the Waipara Valley boasts Pinot Noir and Riesling.

In this guide, we have rounded up some of our favourite wineries, vineyards, and wine tasting experiences from Christchurch to Blenheim. Explore Waipara vineyards, Blenheim wineries, and be sure to go whale watching in Kaikōura.

Christchurch

Christchurch is a lively city of culture, nightlife and heritage, offering a relaxed and genuine atmosphere. It’s considered one of the most liveable cities in the world by rights, but tends to fly under the radar. However, this adds to its appeal. Waipara
